A tribute to Banksy – London 2013

A TRIBUTE TO BANKSY – LONDON 2013

Year 2013 has turned out to be very special for me - full of hard work and satisfaction. During these last months, I fulfiled various new-slant photoshoots - projects within which I confronted myself with several well-known artists, going along with my natural instinct for changes and challenges.

Year 2013 has turned out to be very special for me - full of hard work and satisfaction. During these last months, I fulfiled various new-slant photoshoots - projects within which I confronted myself with several well-known artists, going along with my natural instinct for changes and challenges.

Those following me on Facebook have already taken a look of the sneak preview of my new work.

Do you know Banksy? Well, to be precise, nobody knows him, as the figure of the world's greatest street artist is enveloped in an aura of mystery. His true identity is kept secret, and it is also said that Banksy is just a shrewd artistic group.

Whichever the truth is, I don't care much. What I'm interested in are his art and his aptitude. Banksy is ironic and irreverent, sharp and unscrupulous, megalomaniac and demented. It's just impossible to stay indifferent to his artworks, scattered around the world.
I've had the idea of paying tribute to the art of this authentic genious while watching Exit trough the Gift Shop, a documentary attributed to Banksy and - partially - to his life.

Thus, in the end of November, my team and I flew to London so as to carry out a photoshoot on the track of this far-out street artist - a work, that is no way easy, done in less than 48 hours.

It was a true tour de force through the urban architectures of the British capital. Supplement the stress and hustle, unavoidably entailed by a photoshoot, with the weather conditions characterized by cold, fog, wind and rain - spice it up with a dash of frequent travels by foot, taxi and underground. Get all mixed up, and you'll realize how difficult it was to take home these shots.

You can see the outcome with your own eyes. As for us, we're just satisfied by the fact that our fatique has given birth to something really valuable. See you soon!

BUCOLIC SYMBOLISM - IN HOMAGE TO ANDREA KOWCH

BUCOLIC SYMBOLISM - IN HOMAGE TO ANDREA KOWCH

From the rural America to the meadows of South Tyrol - an utmost transformation to carry out a photoshoot where painting and hairstyling meet to give life to unique and fascinating images.

This is the bucolic symbolism. The latest creation of Mauro Basso.

The last days of August in Bolzano are often full of first signs of autumn's arrival. Even an insignificant rainstorm can lower the temperature, forcing us to pull our blankets out of the closet.

Undoubtedly, those who still hoped to enjoy some dip in a pool, would remain frustrated. But if you have in mind realization of a photo shoot inspired by an artist who's a lover of cold rarefied atmospheres, then the last days of August in Bolzano are ideal for you.

Indeed, some months ago, while surfing the web at one of my rare free moments, I came across Andrea Kowch's works. This young painter and illustrator from Michigan is able to catch the American rural spirit to further adopt it within her images, distinguishable by their restrained dynamism.

Thus, while looking on these sentimental images, a splendid photo shoot idea came to my mind - to reproduce some of Andrea's most impressive works by means of photography, paying special attention to the characters' hairstyles in our interpretation.

For Monday, August 26, weather forecasts had announced rain in the morning and sunny intervals in the afternoon - just perfect to carry out our photoshoot. So, early in the morning, the whole team gathered at the salon to prepare the models. In the meanwhile, guys from genetica multimedia had reached the location to make arrangements on the set.

The location was fantastic: a historic farm in the area of Longostagno, on Renon - one of the mountains surrounding Bolzano. Here, among all those barns of the 50s, shabby carts and in a wonderful frescoed "Stube", - the magic was born. The works were going so well that, at some moment, we had an illusion of being in Michigan for real.

Curious to see the outcome? Take a look at the pictures and get pervaded by bucolic symbolism

RE-BELLO SPRING SUMMER FASHION NIGHT 2013

RE-BELLO SPRING SUMMER FASHION NIGHT 2013

Last Friday (May 10), by invitation of my friends from Re-Bello, I assisted a fashion event, dedicated to presentation of the new Spring-Summer collection. I had a special mission - to prepare male and female models for the catwalk, by styling their hair. Re-Bello is a fashion house founded in 2010 by three young entrepreneurs. All their creations are manufactured of eco-friendly fibers, without neglecting the trend of the moment.

You know how much I enjoy collaborating with those who have fresh ideas and the will to implement them, and these guys have really much fancy! That's why I decided to create those striking hairstyles capable of interpreting their eminent vision of the world. You can see the fulfilled work in the video and photos published on Re-Bello's Facebook page.

I could tell you a couple of words about the magnificent party that followed after the fashion-show, but seeing that you've missed it, I would be unfair making you kick yourselves. So, just try to be there next year!

TUTTOMONDO: PHOTOSHOOTING SPRING 2013

TUTTOMONDO: PHOTOSHOOTING SPRING 2013

As a matter of fact, Monday is our day-off. But on the 8th of April we've made a splendid exception. Indeed, at Norma Salon a new photoshooting was to be held, with the help of guys from Genetica Multimedia - the company that cares my image on the web.
These pictures are a tribute to Keith Haring, one of my favourite artists, and particularly, to his Tuttomondo, the murals created in Pisa by old kind Keith,  shortly before his death. For this reason, I prefered to name my photoshooting in the same way.

I've always been strongly impressed by the history of this masterpiece. Keith Haring accomplished it just a few months before his death, on the wall of Sant'Antonio Abate church. Even though he was aware of the death awaiting him, his Tuttomondo isn't dark at all, more than that, it's full of intense vitality and positive vibrations. These intertwined figures have always recalled a kind of dancing on my mind.
In short, it was those sensations of power and universality that I wanted to repay with my hairstyles and the photos in Tuttomondo-mode. Thus, I've selected models coming from different and distant countries, and I've made my best to bring out that special energy emanating from each of them.
Then you know that I'm a man of action, and some situations make me splash like a fish in the sea. The voltage and thrill of a photoshooting are those precious urge and adrenaline rush that give the sense to what I do.
These pictures contain passion and power, inspiration and fancy. I don't know how is for you, but personally I find them just fantastic.

TUTTOMONDO: PHOTOSHOOTING 2013 --> COMING SOON

In 1989, an American artist Keith Haring presented his last work to the world. The artist decided to name it Tuttomondo, and under some haphazard circumstances the project was carried out in Pisa (Italy), on the walls of Sant'Antonio Abate church.
While working upon the murals, the performer knew that he was going to die. That's why, unlike his other works, Tuttomondo was meant to last over the time.

The 30 figures of the murals, all interlocked in motion that animates the entire wall, reveal the world peace and harmony.
The figures' pace turns into unbridled dancing, into vibration of the hymn to life. It was this dynamism to affect Mauro when he first saw Haring's work.
In order to pay tribute to Keith Haring and his art, Mauro has chosen Tuttomondo as a theme for Spring Performance 2013, dedicated to his new haircuts.
The event is inspired by American artist's vitality and enthusiasm, so it's no accident that the photoshooting occurs in the spring.
Which season is more suitable than this to solemnize the life?
The Tuttomondo event will be held on the 8th of April, 2013.

PHOTO SHOOTING FOR NEW WEBSITE – NOVEMBER 26TH 2012

PHOTO SHOOTING FOR NEW WEBSITE – NOVEMBER 26TH 2012

I really hate routine and the daily succession of the same actions. I need to feel energy around me. I want to be in the heart of the action and to enforce my personal order.
Maybe that's why I love photo shootings so much. Photographers and employees are hurrying through the room, models are preparing themselves and my whole team is taking care of every detail.

Everything is about my work, everyone is just waiting for me.
Today it was exactly like this. Our location was the theatre in Pineta di Laives, near Bolzano. Along with the photographer as well as the videomaker-team of Genetica Multimedia we worked on the photo shooting for our new website. The results? Check out our gallery.
Personally I am very satisfied. Today I finally had the opportunity to implement something I was thinking about for a long time. Actually it often happens that way. Ideas are never precisely defined at the beginning. It is only when they are put into practice that you will be able to recognize subtleties.
It is not easy to put this into words. Some call it "style" and maybe they are right. For me it's just the essence of my work.
